One year after the launch of the Local Capacity Strengthening (LCS) Policy, USAID is excited to host the first annual Learning and Feedback Forum, which will take place virtually over six days between Tuesday, October 10, 2023 and Thursday, October 19, 2023. The Forum will help inform the direction of Policy implementation for the coming year and consists of 11 virtual one-hour sessions that are open to the public and USAID staff.

USAID's Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Policy recognizes that private sector resources and capabilities are required to work at the scale needed to address development challenges effectively and sustainably. Mobilizing private capital has become an increasingly important part of this effort. USAID’s INVEST initiative has successfully engaged transaction advisors to mobilize over $800 million in investment capital for renewable energy, agriculture, financial services, and other priorities.

This webinar aims to illustrate how gender-inclusive policies are not only good for society, but good for business. The WI-ROI Framework looks at how to promote improved development outcomes for women within private sector development, including MSD, initiatives. It is a guide for development practitioners working with their business partners to calculate the likely financial returns for investing in women’s inclusion across the partner’s business operations.

Chemonics International and the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) held a webinar on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 to learn about market-based approaches for engaging the private sector in waste management, including lessons learned in supporting businesses to transition practices and services and specific ways that the circular economy can contribute to USAID’s localization priorities.

Strikingly, only around one-third of countries worldwide prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace to some extent; even fewer do so on the basis of gender identity.  In short, too many LGBTQI+ persons lack explicit, unequivocal employment protections when they encounter discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics globally.

Living Income Practitioner's Workshop Day 1 (15th June): What drives improvement in farmer income and who can lead and influence these drivers?  ​This day will explore the building blocks for an effective living income program.  We will look at the evidence on the critical drivers of farmer income at the farm, national and sector levels.  The sessions will provide clarity on what is needed to enable farmers to earn a living income and consider this from the perspective and roles of different actors.
