This webinar aims to illustrate how gender-inclusive policies are not only good for society, but good for business. The WI-ROI Framework looks at how to promote improved development outcomes for women within private sector development, including MSD, initiatives. It is a guide for development practitioners working with their business partners to calculate the likely financial returns for investing in women’s inclusion across the partner’s business operations.

The USAID Women’s Economic Empowerment Community of Practice (USAID WEE CoP) learning event:  “Raising the Economic Power of Domestic Workers,”  was on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Washington, DC time (ET). In 2019, USAID conducted a review of rigorous, causal evidence organized around common theories of change for growing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Since then, additional studies on these outcomes have emerged, adding to existing evidence on different modalities of consulting, and beginning to fill important gaps in equity finance and women-led SMEs.

Chemonics International and the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) held a webinar on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 to learn about market-based approaches for engaging the private sector in waste management, including lessons learned in supporting businesses to transition practices and services and specific ways that the circular economy can contribute to USAID’s localization priorities.

USAID Green Invest Asia, GIZ, and Sustainable Coconut Steering Committee (SCSC) will convene the 7th Sustainable Coconut Roundtable in-person in Makati City, Philippines, with the theme “Advancing Resilient and Sustainable Coconut Supply in Southeast Asia.” The roundtable, to be held on the sidelines of a Philippine Coconut Alliance meeting, convenes stakeholders actively involved in coconut supply chains with shared interests in sourcing and capturing investment opportunities in sustainable coconut and coconut oil value chains.

The African Development Bank estimates that up to 12 million young people enter African labor markets each year, but only three million formal jobs are created. Because most of these young people can’t afford not to work, the outcome is underemployment and working poverty on a massive scale.   As policymakers, researchers, and the donor community continue to wrestle with the youth employment challenge, does MSD offer any answers?

USAID Green Invest Asia and the Cocoa Association of Asia will host a webinar on November 2, 2022, as the follow-up to the recent CAA International Conference. On Thursday, October 27, 2022, USAID’s Private Sector Engagement Secretariat and USAID’s Rwanda and Bangladesh Missions discussed promising practices for engaging the private sector to advance and sustain inclusive, agriculture-led economic growth and a well-nourished population, especially among women and children.

On October 27, USAID and Chemonics hosted a webinar discussing key lessons from the Colombia RFI experience and explored how they overcame cultural misconceptions and structural barriers to reach Venezuelan migrant clients and mobilized $11 million in finance.
