In post-conflict Angola World Vision’s ProRENDA project is taking a multifaceted approach to increase smallholder farmer incomes.

Recognizing better produce will attract higher prices and allow the producer to access more lucrative urban markets. ProRENDA is educating farmers through workshops and guiding them on topics such as quality control and storage.

Better quality alone does not guarantee improved income. ProRENDA is using business schools to strengthen producer groups and is scaling up training with courses on leadership, finance, management, and business planning. Through the development of new market information services, ProRENDA is enabling newly equipped farmers to put their knowledge to use.

The final component engages the too often missing half of the workforce, namely; women. ProRENDA has a special focus on enhancing the position of women in the value chain and production process.
