Returning to self-sufficiency after a crisis or disaster is one of people’s greatest desires, but the path to recovery can be extra challenging in areas affected by conflict or insecurity. The Central African Republic (CAR) – ranked the world’s second poorest country – is one such challenged location.

Microlinks, in collaboration with the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), held a webinar on June 7. Presenters from three organizations – Oxfam Intermon, Plan International, and Mercy Corps – shared their experiences supporting crisis-affected people to restore their livelihoods, rehabilitate market infrastructure, and establish informal savings in the CAR.

The webinar included a moderated discussion to capture lessons applicable for development and humanitarian practitioners working in similar contexts.
