This handbook describes the USAID social audit tool (SAT) and provides practical guidelines to microfinance practitioners for implementing the tool. The SAT is the result of USAID’s work under the AMAP Knowledge Generation task order to develop and test methods for assessing the social performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs). The SAT is intended to be used alongside other social performance assessment (SPA) tools that makeup part of an MFI’s social performance management (SPM) system.
