Mobile Money Snapshot: TB Care II

USAID promotes increased access to and usage of mobile financial services in order to deepen financial inclusion, accelerate broad-based economic growth, and instill transparency into funding flows. These mobile money snapshots describe the experiences of USAID- and non-USAID-funded organizations that have begun to replace cash with digital payments so that others can apply their lessons learned to their own transition to digital payments.

This Mobile Money Snapshot, the fourth in the series, is about USAID’s TB Care II program, implemented by URC. The primary goals of this program are to: i) reduce morbidity, transmission, and mortality of tuberculosis; ii) reduce incidence of MDR-TB (multidrug-resistant tuberculosis); iii) strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of the TB control program; and iv) strengthen management capacity at all tiers. The target group of this program is TB patients residing in rural areas.

This Mobile Money Snapshot provides information related to transaction type, transitioning to mobile payments, major challenges and benefits associated with the transition, and a few key takeaways from URC's experience.
