This Briefing Paper is the second of its series which aims to guide USAID missions and their implementing partners in sub-Saharan Africa to use information and communications technology (ICT) more successfully —via sustainable and scalable approaches— and to improve the impact of their agriculture-related development projects.

Enclosed is a brief overview of the fundamentals of warehouse receipt systems (WRSs) and commodity exchanges (CEXs), which describes a few ways that ICT tools are being mobilized, and captures key programmatic lessons learned with a focus on sustainability without donor support.
