ICT Enhances Warehouse Receipt Systems and Commodity Exchanges in Africa
This Briefing Paper is the second of its series which aims to guide USAID missions and their implementing partners in sub-Saharan Africa to use information and communications technology (ICT) more successfully —via sustainable and scalable approaches— and to improve the impact of their agriculture-related development projects.
Enclosed is a brief overview of the fundamentals of warehouse receipt systems (WRSs) and commodity exchanges (CEXs), which describes a few ways that ICT tools are being mobilized, and captures key programmatic lessons learned with a focus on sustainability without donor support.
