Supported by USAID’s Fostering Agriculture Competitiveness Employing Information Communication Technologies (FACET) project under the FIELD-Support LWA, this profile discusses Agro-Tech Limited, a private firm that provides a suite of agriculture data management services and systems customized to the needs of their clients. Agro-Tech has been used by a client in Malawi to identify how child labor was being used and discovered that it was being used primarily for weeding. The client issued an environmentally friendly herbicide to eliminate weeds, which the company claims led to a reduction in child labor. Organizations have also used Agro-Tech to assess the quality of their agriculture extension services and have replaced staff with higher quality people as a result.

The FACET project aims to help USAID missions and their implementing partners in sub-Saharan Africa use information and communications technology in sustainable and scalable approaches to improve the impact of their agriculture related development projects.
