There are numerous projects and programs focusing on female entrepreneurship worldwide, yet there were no measures available to compare countries according to the same metrics. The Gender-Global Entrepreneurship and Development Index (GEDI) was created to fill this gap. The Gender-GEDI Index is the first-ever diagnostic tool to help identify the strengths and weaknesses for 'high potential' female entrepreneurship development at the country, regional and global levels. Our initial pilot study focused on 17 developing and developed countries and the 2014 Gender GEDI index was expanded to 30 countries. Every country stands to gain by removing impediments and increasing its pool of successful female entrepreneurs.
