In Uganda, only 2% of rural households have access to electricity. Through FIELD-Support, FINCA Uganda launched a Micro-Energy Loan product to finance renewable energy initiatives. These included products like solar-powered home systems (SHS) for FINCA’s existing client base and new low-income customers.

A new FIELD Brief—“Microfinance and Energy Clients Win with Two-Handed Partnership Model in Uganda: A Case Study of FINCA’ s Microfinance and Renewable Energy Pilot Activity”—provides an overview of the project, including results of their market and impact assessment surveys and programmatic lessons learned.
