This research, funded by the Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion (IMTFI), identifies and analyzes factors that contribute to the slow uptake of mobile money in Ghana. One of the main objectives of this research is to discuss theories that inform the use and adoption of mobile financial services (MFS) such as consumer theory (including product adoption and consumer resistance), theories of technology adoption, as well as MFS specific observations. These theories are then discussed in terms of their application in a Ghanaian context.
