This February, Marketlinks Explores Economic Recovery in Crisis-Affected Communities

In February, we'll focus on economic recovery in crisis-affected communities. Throughout the month, we’ll take a deep dive into how communities around the world are building resilience in the wake of a crisis.

Don’t miss our webinar, Mainstreaming the Minimum Economic Recovery Standards (MERS) for Improved Market-Based Programming, coming up on February 19. Details to follow. The MERS represent an industry consensus on economic recovery for the humanitarian and development sector. With support from USAID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), the SEEP Network has led the development and revision processes of the MERS since 2007. 

In 2017-2019, the SEEP Network supported practitioners and institutions to integrate MERS into organizational practices through the “Mainstreaming MERS” program. Led by representatives from the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR), this webinar will provide a brief overview of the MERS and describe the activities and lessons learned to mainstream the standards. The SEEP Network also recently hosted the Applying the Minimum Economic Recovery Standards Workshop Series: Beirut to showcase the use of MERS in practice. Participants gained useful skills and knowledge around how to apply MERS in various contexts. Learn how humanitarian agencies promoted economic recovery for affected populations in countries like Nepal, Syria, the Philippines, and Haiti.
