Bio: Charlotte McClain-Nhlapo

Charlotte McClain-Nhlapo has actively supported the development of disability inclusive policies at the international and national levels. Recently, she was appointed as USAID’s Coordinator for Disability and Inclusive Development, where she will lead and coordinate work on mainstreaming disability throughout the Agency and reposition the Agency as a leader in Disability Inclusive Development. Formerly, McClain-Nhlapo was a Senior Operations Specialist at the World Bank, working in Africa, East Asia and the Pacific regions. Prior to joining the Bank, McClain-Nhlapo has served as a Commissioner on the South African Human Rights Commission, Project Officer on Child Protection for UNICEF, Legal Advisor to the South African Presidency, and Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the University of South Africa (UNISA). She studied law at the University of Warsaw, Poland and Cornell Law School.
