Join SCALE's 3-part “Resources Showcase” Series! These three culminating learning events will provide participants with an overview of what SCALE has done and learned over five years of working with the food security community on seed systems, markets & livelihoods, and resilient agriculture. We’ll make sure you leave each session knowing the tools, training materials and research studies we created, what we learned, and how you can continue to engage with resources going forward. All events will be held in English with French interpretation.

Resource Showcase 1: Seed Systems | November 2 | 8:00-9:00 AM ET (3:00-4:00 PM EAT)

Seed aid is on the rise around the globe, in both emergency and non-emergency contexts. But what informs the implementers’ decisions when selecting context-appropriate seed responses? How can seed aid be more effective, premised on farmers’ preferences and needs while supporting market systems? Over the past few years, SCALE has captured learning on seed responses from implementing partners, led an online seeds learning series and supported practical tool development for use in emergency and fragile contexts. Join this session to hear about tools to help guide implementers as they design and implement seed-related interventions; explore ideas for intervening in fragile contexts; and walk away knowing where to find these resources going forward.

Resource Showcase 2: Markets and Livelihoods: November 2 | 9:00-10:15 AM ET (4:00-5:15 PM EAT)

Given the multiple overlapping crises that many countries are facing, aid practitioners need to be prepared to adapt their livelihoods and market programming and move beyond standard models. SCALE created tools to help USAID’s implementing partners to apply familiar concepts to new contexts and populations. In this webinar we will discuss four of the most popular resources for markets and livelihoods programming around youth, employment, emergencies, and access to finance. If you missed any of them, this is your chance to learn about these new tools and approaches, and ask questions.

Resource Showcase 3: Resilient Agriculture: November 9th | 8:00-9:30 AM ET (3:00-4:30 PM EAT)

Around the globe, smallholder farmers and rural communities are struggling to maintain production and incomes in the face of interrelated shocks and stresses such as climate change, drought, conflict, land degradation, and erosion. Resilient agriculture approaches support farmers to address these challenges and build more adaptive and productive farming systems by working with surrounding natural systems to improve soil health and water management. Over the past five years, SCALE has developed a suite of learning materials, research studies, capacity strengthening tools, M&E guidance and online courses to support the roll out of resilient agriculture approaches from the initial design phase through to capturing impacts and lessons learned. Join us to learn about these key resources and best practices that will support your team to successfully implement resilient agriculture activities.

The SCALE Award is a USAID/BHA-funded capacity strengthening, research and learning award ending in November 2022. Over the past five years, SCALE has supported BHA-funded agriculture, natural resource management, and alternative livelihoods activities in emergency and non-emergency contexts to enhance their impact, sustainability, and scalability. SCALE is implemented by Mercy Corps in collaboration with Save the Children.
