Optimizing the Impact of Trade Facilitation

Over the last decade, the implementation of national reforms and international agreements to simplify and harmonize import/export procedures has deepened. However, as trade facilitation initiatives reduce the time individuals and goods spend at border crossings, they can have disruptive effects on local border economies.

USAID’s Trade and Competitiveness Activity (TCA) invites you to an engaging presentation and discussion on why and how development practitioners should ensure that border communities benefit from the full breadth of economic growth programming. During this session, speakers will highlight TCA’s practical research on this topic and discuss approaches and challenges to supporting local economic development in evolving border environments. Panelists will focus on donor-funded initiatives in the Northern Triangle as a springboard for the discussion.

We look forward to hosting Eleanor Thornton, Senior International Trade Specialist, USAID/Center for Economics and Market Development (EMD); Hector Andrews, Project Management Specialist, USAID/Honduras; Jonah Belser, Senior Associate, SEGURA Consulting; and Gabriela Montenegro, International Trade Specialist, Trade and Competitiveness Activity (TCA).

This is a public event. Save the date for August 30, 2022, at 9:00 am to join the discussion. You can submit questions to the panelists in advance at apelon@resonanceglobal.com.
