Information

On-farm, off-farm, non-farm… What’s in a name? Common alternative livelihoods terms often appear straightforward on paper but can be rather ambiguous in practice. As food security initiatives increasingly include alternative livelihoods components and diversification strategies, it’s important to understand the distinctions between these interventions, particularly with regards to the implications for program design, targeting, measurement, etc.

Join Save the Children and Mercy Corps in an interactive webinar unpacking these terms and understanding common usages, important distinctions, interlinkages with food systems development, specific program examples, and where the lines get a little blurry.

This webinar is supported by the USAID Food for Peace-funded SCALE Award (Strengthening Capacity in Agriculture, Livelihoods & Environment). Learn more about SCALE on the FSN Network website.
