Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit 2019
The Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit is the leading event for experts who are working to advance the social and economic well-being of young people. The Summit offers a first look at how new tools, research, and methodologies across health, education, and governance contribute to the social and economic inclusion of youth. It is a true global convening with representation from emerging economies and a variety of sectors. 2018’s Summit saw more than 520 participants from 70 countries and 203 organizations. This year’s summit is expected to see a similar turnout with leading experts, implementers, donors, private sector professionals, researchers, and youth leaders.
In 2019, the GYEO Summit theme is, “The Opportunity Puzzle: Piecing it together to help youth learn, earn, and thrive”. We will use this theme to continue exploring skills development, work readiness, and self-employment and entrepreneurship, as well as cross-cutting issues like gender, conflict, measuring impact, and scale. This includes narrowing the “policy gap” for youth social and economic mobility; engaging businesses to recruit, mentor, and train youth; focusing on mental health and trauma in our youth economic opportunities programs; and examining the impact of disruption on youth economic opportunity, among other topics.
