Cracking the Nut 2013 Preview | Ruth Moloney, Armajaro Trading

Ruth Moloney of Armajaro Trading, Limited, sat down to speak with Microlinks from New York about the upcoming Cracking the Nut conference in Dresden. Maloney is currently working on a major cocoa project with AZMJ and USAID in Peru that aims to engage the private sector in development. For Moloney, sustainability is important both because it increases productivity of smallholder farmers, but also because it leaves the land in a better condition than it was originally. She also discusses the important role of the private sector partnerships in creating lasting development impacts.
 

Bio: Ruth Moloney

Based in New York, Ruth Moloney has been managing Armajaro’s Development and Sustainability programs for the Americas since 2011. Moloney was previously the strategic cocoa buyer in Los Angeles for Nestlé USA. Before that she worked for Nestlé in sugar procurement for operations in Asia, Oceania and Africa. Moloney has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from the University of Queensland. She also holds a Masters of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales. Moloney has previously been a board member of the Cocoa Merchants’ Association of America. She is currently on the board of Swisscontact North America.
