Bio: Christian Pennotti

Since joining CARE in 2009, Christian Pennotti has played a leading role in advancing CARE’s Market Engagement Strategy, which emphasizes the increased use of a value chain approach to reduce extreme poverty and food insecurity among vulnerable women and girls. Pennotti works with CARE country offices in Asia, Africa and Latin America to improve value chain program design, measurement and learning systems. He also works across CARE’s global operations to develop and deploy resources that enhance staff capacity and accelerate organizational learning on effective value chain programming. Prior to joining CARE, Pennotti worked with the USAID FIELD LWA mechanism where he managed an innovation fund and led knowledge management initiatives across the 26-member consortium. He has also worked with the QED Group, Virtue Ventures, the Inter-American Development Bank and Ashoka since beginning his career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uzbekistan. He holds a MA in International development Studies from George Washington University.
