This July, Marketlinks is excited about the United Nations’ (UN) observance of World Youth Skills Day #WYSD2019 on July 15th. The UN reports that youth are three times as likely to be unemployed as adults, and face inequalities in access to the labor market. The theme for WYSD 2019 is “Learning to Learn for Life and Work”; and in line with this focus on youth skills development, this month, Marketlinks is highlighting the topic of Youth Employment.

Our Youth topic page is full of blogs and resources demonstrating that young people need opportunities for education, jobs and income. These include technical briefs from our accelerating Strategies for Practical Innovation & Research in Economic Strengthening (ASPIRES) collection, previous learning events, blog series and resources around youth employment, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion. In the sidebar, we’ve pulled together some important posts from the Marketlinks’ archives and USAID sites to frame our focus for the month. Stay tuned as we continue to feature new posts and contributions from our partners.

We look forward to hearing from you! Please help us highlight Youth Employment and celebrate World Youth Skills Day by sharing with us your blogs, events, toolkits and resources. Create an account and log-in to add a post, and reach out to info@marketlinks.org if you have any questions!
