Decolonization of aid. Participatory processes. Community-led programming. These terms are routinely used by humanitarian and development practitioners with an earnest desire to further localization and sustainability objectives. However, many of the tools and approaches that practitioners use have been developed outside of the countries and communities where they are ultimately used and may carry with them embedded perspectives, assumptions, and biases of implementer and/or donor mindsets and experience.

The culture of food safety in Senegal leaped forward recently with the announcement of the winners of the youth competition on “Smart Food Safety.” The competition solicited innovation smart phone applications to assist small business owners to adopt safer food handling practices. “Samba the Fisherman from Soumbédioune” took first place at $10,000 and second and third-place winners claimed $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.

The Feed the Future Market Systems and Partnership Activity is pleased to invite for-profit businesses in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Nepal, Philippines, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and the Kyrgyz Republic to submit an application for co-investment through its Asia Care Economy (ACE) activity. 

Water and Energy for Food Grand Challenge (WE4F), through its Southern and Central Africa Regional Innovation Hub (S/CA RIH), is proud to announce the launch of the second Southern and Central Africa Call for Innovations to foster innovation and enhance food security in the region. This call will support up to 30 organizations working on innovative technologies and business model solutions to provide more sustainable water or energy solutions for climate-resilient agriculture.
