This microNOTE presents a case study of how rural poor smallholder coffee farmers in the state of Chiapas in southern Mexico achieved significant increases in their earnings. This increase was a result of sales into a higher value market channel established in cooperation between Conservation International (CI) and the Starbucks Coffee Company (Starbucks) in a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
