PROFIT Zambia Impact Assessment: Baseline Research Design

This document presents a detailed description of the research plan for carrying out the PROFIT Zambia impact assessment. Included in the research plan are (1) program description, (2) causal models, (3) research hypotheses, associated indicators, and sources of information at different levels of analysis, (4) description of quantitative methodology (longitudinal survey), (5) description of qualitative methodology (focus group discussions and in-depth key informant interviews), (6) sampling frame and methodology, (7) lists of key informants, (8) household surveys, and (9) discussion guides. The PROFIT Zambia research plan is offered as a resource for other organizations or persons planning impact assessments of private sector development programs.
