2011 SEEP Annual Conference: Rosita Najmi on the Financial Access @ Birth initiative

During the media roundtable at the 2011 SEEP Annual Conference, Rosita Najmi of Financial Access @ Birth - a program developed by Bhagwan Chowdhry and now hosted by the Center for Financial Inclusion - discussed this social and economic innovation that seeks financial inclusion for newborns in the developing world. The program is currently in the development stage and has recently received government support for a test pilot. 

Bio: Rosita Najmi

Rosita Najmi has served as consultant at the Center for Financial Inclusion since August 2010. Her work in international social and economic development began in 2001. Prior to ACCION, she served as the Financial Services Strategy Advisor at (international NGO) Mercy Corps. Before joining Mercy Corps, she worked at the World Bank and IFC (2005-2009). Rosita has conducted fieldwork in microfinance in West Africa and published her research. Rosita brings work experience from Benin, Brazil, France, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam. In her personal capacity, Rosita co-founded a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and NGO in the public health sector in Benin. She served as its volunteer executive director and board member for 3 years. Rosita is tri-lingual (English, Persian and proficient in French). Rosita earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA with honors in Economics, French, and Politics from Wake Forest University.
